The Worlds Coolest Music Inspired Furniture And Design
I shudder to imagine a world without music and the ever wise Shakespeare rightly said “If music be the food of love, play on”. No matter what your poison is (rock, pop, jazz, country, folk, hip-hop, rap) I firmly believe that we all have a soundtrack to our lives.
Songs that remind us of our childhoods, our prom night or even our wedding day. The A&D world also concurs and time and time again we have come across designs inspired by music and musical instrumentals.
Listed below are some of the coolest music inspired furniture and architecture.
The Fender Stratocaster Table
Leo Fender and associates designed the stratocaster guitar in 1954, just before “rock n roll” as a social phenomenon took off. Since then, its design has pretty much stayed the same, creating something of an iconic shape over the decades.
And here is the head of the guitar stock in coffee table form!
Diesel Turntable Bedding
Here is a bed accompanied by sheets with photographic prints in black and white. This is a new creation of the designer of Diesel, the Turntable Bedding.
The pillows and bed sheets feature images of turntables with decks, equalizers, cords and knobs. Diesel Turntable Bedding is part of their Diesel Lifestyle Home Textile Collection.
So if you are a DJ or you simply love turntables and the way music used to be played not long ago, you might love this bedding design.
It is out of the ordinary and unattractive to some, but some other people might find it really appealing. It does have a message and it does look out-of-the ordinary with the black and white print on.
The design is very well done and you could think all the wires and plates are for real for a second. Just place it in a room with a sound proof head rest and a microphone looking bed side lamp and you will have your own private heaven for a DJ.
Bughouse Album Side Table
This table is a playful representation of a block of vintage vinyl records and can be used as either a bench or side table in your living room.

The x-rays of a dj console on glass use the colours of the night with shades from electric blue to black maintaining at the same time the transparency of glass.
The effect is strong, evocative and very iconographic. The same x-rays process has been used for the small side table but the selected in this case image is one of a sting-ray swimming on a blue background.

Fender Hot Seat
Need a place to store your effects boxes, pedals, cords, strings and other guitar accessories? Throw it in the amp. Huh?
I mean, that footrest-cum-stool Fender Blackface Hotseat that looks like an actual amp but really isn’t. Instead, the combination storage bench and equipment case was merely decked out to play a fitting part to your musical inclinations.
Sorry, it’s not a functional amp either. It’s really just furniture. Except Fender made it, so they recycled their own design and marketed it to the same people who buy their musical instruments. More money for the man!
Sporting 13 x 13 x 19 inch dimensions like a standard-sized guitar amplifier, the Blackface Hotseat hosts a seat cushion on top. That way, you can use it to sit your ass down comfortably during practice.
Need to read a tab? No problem, since you stored it right inside the case. Simply turn the volume knob to pop the lid open and you’ve got full access to your noise-making pile.
The interior panel is covered in red velvet, making it look like complete rockstar gear, apart from keeping scratches away from any expensive equipment you carry inside.
While I really can’t see much value for real guitarists over many accessory bags out there, this should make an excellent addition to every RockBand enthusiast’s playroom. Since you have no use for real amps, just throw a couple of fake ones on the floor for effect.
You can use it to hide your regular controllers so it doesn’t end up completely useless.
Hand-built and with a limited production run, the Fender Blackface Hotseat is being touted as a collector piece. Hmmm…I’m not too sold on that, but you can get it for a pricey tag of $180.

The Boombench
German designer Michael Schoner of NL Architects has designed a bench that plays music from passing mobile phones via Bluetooth.
For the design of the ‘Boombench’ NL architects transformed a regular piece of street furniture into a sound system. This seemingly normal street bench reveals its hidden gimmick when it is activated via Bluetooth, allowing the public to play the music on their mobile phones.
