Choosing The Right Floor Lamp
I often find myself thinking about floor lamp ideas. I love the style of a modern floor lamp. I love how they add light and warmth to any room. I also love how they make a space feel more personal and inviting. But when it comes time to choose a lamp for my clients, I struggle. I'm torn between wanting to provide a personalized lighting experience for each home I design and wanting to keep costs low.

I've tried to solve this problem by asking my clients to tell me what they would like. Most times, they respond with something along the lines of “something warm” or “a little quirky”. But sometimes they surprise me.
One of my clients told me she wanted a lamp that looked like a giant marshmallow. Another asked for a lamp shaped like a heart. And another said he wanted a lamp that looked nothing like a lamp.
But these ideas aren't really helping me narrow down my choices. So I decided to ask for help. I posted a picture of my current collection of lamps on Instagram and asked my followers which ones they liked best. Then I used the results to guide my decision-making.
The most popular lamps were the ones that had either a vintage look or a modern twist. My favorite lamps were those that combined both. This helped me realize that I needed to combine two very different styles into one lamp.
My new lamp combines a simple geometric shape with a soft, rounded shade. It looks modern, but it feels warm and cozy. I think it will fit well in almost any type of living space.
