Giving both a literal and figurative nod to generations past, Design Within Reach (DWR) offers its exclusive collection of house numbers by Dion Neutra, who reproduced the same typography used by his father – and business partner – architect Richard Neutra, who specified the same designs for the buildings he brought to reality in the mid-1900s.
They’re made of weather- and corrosion-resistant bead-blasted aluminum, and each number “floats” without visible hardware. Each numeral weighs about half a pound and stands 4 inches tall, standing just shy of an inch away from the wall on which they’re mounted, creating a slight shadow for dramatic effect. Mounting hardware and a full-scale drilling template are included with every number. $48.
