A new trend I am seeing is the use of wine tumblers instead of stemware. I did not think much of it the first time I saw someone enjoying wine from these glasses, but I am seeing this more and more. The reasoning is quite simple. It is much harder to spill from a tumbler than from a stem. Further, some people have trouble putting down stemware without cracking the base. Perhaps, it is a vision issue or simply put an “impaired vision” issue. Nonetheless, wine tumblers are catching on. These glasses here are made by Riedel and are called “O Glasses”. There are four models available designed for the following wines: cabernet, merlot, pinot noir, chardonnay, and sauvignon blanc. Price range: $20 – $24 per glass.
