Kitchen floors can do wonderful things to bring out the overall design and theme of a house. Think about all the types such as cork, tile, wood, stone, concrete and vinyl and how the texture and feel on shoes and feet can add to the room’s experience. A kitchen floor is not something that should be considered lightly when you take into account that it will probably be the only time you fit a kitchen floor into your home.

Do NOT Buy Cheap Kitchen Floor Products

Try and choose the floor that you can afford at the top end of your budget, and not something that just fits the idea. A good quality kitchen floor made from granite or marble is a far better choice than a floor made of cheaper wood or laminate or pot style tiles.

Take it from me, tiles and cheaper laminate floors do not last long before they start to look worn and date.

We fitted an off mustard tile in our kitchen as it looked nice when we checked it out. They still look nice, apart from the chips that have accrued over the last 10 years from dropped cutlery and other small items.

These chips stand out like a sore thumb as they are white and are now all over the place. To remove this floor would take quite a lot of work as it has bee welded to the floor with concrete.

We also fitted laminate flooring in the living room and dining room. This again was not cheap, but not the best quality. This wore out very quickly and has even turned up and broke in a couple of the most used places.

From our experience, both of these have been in place around 10 years. had we bought better quality products and paid a little more for them we would not be looking at replacing them now.

This obviously is more expensive to start with, but will give you more satisfaction, and will always look good for many years more than cheap alternatives.

On the design side, there are so many color options that can complement countertops, cabinets or a backsplash.   Patterns are popular options too with the most common being diagonal, circular or checkered in nature.
