The Caruso Sideboard and idea that came by pure chance has become a multi awarded international hit. The Caruso sideboard is the creation of Paolo Cappello for Miniforms with structure in MDF, lacquered or canaletto walnut or precious vintage 1700’s oak. Nothing new here!
So what makes it special? A ceramic trumpet reminiscent of the shape of a gramophone! Caruso, in addition to being a storage piece of furniture, is also a music speaker that connects via Bluetooth to your playback devices.
With its trumpet-shaped speaker, this music cabinet might make you think of old music players, but instead this piece is prepared for the future. You can connect any Bluetooth smartphone to it and to make things even easier, once you’ll buy it you can download the dedicated App that simplifies the connection between Caruso and your gadget.
Why it came by pure chance? As Paolo Cappello was saying in a interview, it all started when he was visiting a small village in the Vicenza province famous for its ceramic crafts. There he’s seen a worker putting his phone in a terracotta pot, and asking him why, he replied that ceramic amplifies sound better. That later proved to be true: the ceramic produces a higher quality sound.
Each piece is made exclusively on order and as the name suggests, it is paying homage to famed Italian opera singer Enrico Caruso. Caruso's components are created and assembled by hand by experienced Italian craftsmen. It is thus possible to create the combinations that you prefer and best match the environment to which this jewel will be destined.
The ceramic horn can be selected in several standard colors as well as in the 24k gold plated limited edition.
In short, a truly original piece that combines technology, practicality and attention for detail.
The music cabinet designed by the young Italian designer rapidly gained international attention and won the Young & Design Award, Contemporary Design Award in 2015 and the Archiproducts Design Award in 2016.
