Once upon a time, in the days long before plasma screens and home entertainment centers that rival the luxury of the local cineplex, there was once a certain something called a conversation pit. Designed specifically for groups to gather around a fire in the swinging 1960s and smoke, drink and converse their way through the evening, these relics of a bygone era are making an inevitable return to a place in modern day interiors. Aware of the impending trend, the minds behind Novoceram have chosen the midcentury modern activity to help promote its “Elixir” collection of tiles. Although they can certainly be used as conversation pit tiles, they're suitable for bathroom and kitchen floors as well. Per the brand's product description: “The charm of surfaces from bygone days becomes eternal in a collection which reinterprets the undulating irregularities of stone modelled by time to create a surprising unusual look with a strong contemporary character.” We're willing to take a trip back in time as long as our destination is this chic and comfortable. The tiles, made of porcelain, come in beige, black, grey (shown) and three sizes: 30 x 60 cm, 45 x 45 cm, and 60 x 60 cm.
